What You Do To Wear the Mary Kay Red Jacket?

I remembered when I asked this question at a Mary Kay Career Conference I attended some years ago.

They make the world of difference.

Plus you have tons of fun with your girls!

First to begin with I attended the conference because I wanted to surround myself with all the Mary Kay Leaders.

The Red Jacket leaders,

Other Directors

and other

National Sales Directors.

You see I realized that if I wanted to be successful I had to surround myself with success!

So I asked the most logically question.

How do I get into the Mary Kay Red Jacket?

Here was the short answer –

1. Become a Star Team Builder

2. Become a Team Leader

3. Become a Future Independent Sales Director

It was that easy!

Now that’s the short answer

The Red Jacket as I would have described in the Career Path is the next major level.

If you remember from my recent blog post 

Everyone starts as a Beauty Consultant

and then you move the Senior Beauty Consultant.

Then you start to move up the ranks to Star Team Builder

So what is being the in the Mary Kay RED mean.

Imagine yourself going to skin care classes

Attending events

Cutting Training videos ….

Interviewing other leaders…..

and you’re doing it all …..

in your RED JACKET!

That’s the lime and glitter I wanted.

But yours truly didn’t continue going to Live Events.

Yours truly stopped attending meeting with all the leaders.

And Yours truly sank all the way back to Independent Beauty Consultant.

 So What Does it Really Take to Claim Your Mary Kay Red Jacket?

You see sometimes we think we can do it on our own!

And I know of a few people who have done it!

But you need to the support

You need the leaders cheering you on.

So you need to attend events.

So here’s what you have to do:

First : Attend Events

1. Marketing Training Events

2. Company Events

3. Unit Meetings

4. Team Hangouts

If there’s an event where you learn and grown and immerse yourself in success then do it! This is where you listen to leaders.

When I attended Career Conference I listened to Pat Fortenberry, Independent Elite Executive National Sales Director Emeritus. She gave me inspiration and the motivation I needed then.

Second: Become a Leader

This may seem puzzling to you. But what I’ve learned most from my marketing “degree” is that you have to provide value to people.

You have to become a leader in order to lead.

People don’t follow people who aren’t doing what they’re saying.

The way I heard it best was when my blogging coach told me,

Third: Work the numbers

At the end of the day – Mary Kay is a network marketing company.

Like any other company you have to know your numbers.

You have to know what it’s going to take you to obtain and sustain a certain level.

And read the fine print and little * that they put in your literature.

So here’s an example of what running the numbers can mean for you.

Basically by Month 2 you would have earned your Red Jacket.

But as you continue to grow your business you maintain that Red Jacket status.
