Mary Kay‘s DMO or IPA
We’ve been talking a lot about why a Daily Mode of Operation is so important.
And what online marketers should be doing every day as their DMO.
As a Mary Kay Consultant there are some activities as well that you need to be aware will help you grow your business.
In Mary Kay a DMO is called the Income Producing Activities (IPA)
I recommend using a combination of the online marketing daily activitices as well as these that I will describe for you.
Just in case you didn’t know Mary Kay is a Skin Care and Make Up Network Marketing business.
So before you think you need any extra skills to do this I’m here to tell you —- YES you do!
I’m not going to tell you ANYONE can do this!
Because EVERYONE can’t do this.
Just like any other business you WILL need to learn a few new things.
Just like any other profession you will have what I like to call orientation.
You should also give yourself a probation period, but unlike companies that give 4 to 6 month probation periods,
I recommend a year. Yes ONE YEAR probation period.
And that’s a year of consistently proving yourself.
Remember when you’re new to a job and you’re on probation you’re doing everything and anything to “please” the boss.
Well now you’re your own boss. So what are you doing to please you.
Are you “going to work” every day in your business or are you slacking off?
Most times you start a business as a side project, something that you’re building to be able to maybe leave your job, or just get to an income goal.
Well for Mary Kay there are nine things that they recommend.
I’ll try and break these down for you and show you how you can actually use some online marketing to maximize your time.
Income Producing Activities for Mary Kay Beauty Consultants
Conduct one Mary Kay skin care class or collection preview
Host two facials or “on-the-go” appointments
Get 2 new bookings
$100 retail sales in customer service, web site or brochure sales
1 marketing CD follow up with Questionnaire completed (I’ll explain more)
1 Team- building interview
1 guest at your unit meeting who stays for the marketing presentation
7 new names and numbers (aka Leads)
1 new team member
So you’re probably saying to yourself
“Hilary, that’s a lot of work to be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant”
Well it is.
Dare I say it was.
I don’t know about you but time is slipping away.
Everyday I have my family to see about, my other businesses, my personal development……
So where do you find time to fit in a skin care class that can take almost 3 hours of your time?
Facials about the same depending on what you’re doing.
Conducting interviews.
So!
It’s not that you’re NOT going to be doing these things,
It’s just that I’ve found a way to work smarter.
I know I don’t have a lot of time for skin care classes,
So a great way is to video tape yourself doing one – yes do one, or two, or three.
Record yourself doing the class. (get the permission of your guests).
Another way is to do a power point presentation of the skin care class and just provide the information.
Now that can be a little boring (I learned that the hard way)
It’s far better to record an actual skin care class!!!
Now guess what you’re going to do with that recording?
You’re going to put it on YouTube, your blog, your facebook page.
You realize that by you recording this ONE skin Care class – you can be virtually hosting skin care classes every time someone watches your video!!!
Now that’s just #1.
We’re going to get into greater detail of how you can execute these 9 Income Producing Activities using the internet.
Now if you’re a shy person. This is a great way to start – I was there and wished when I started I knew how to use the internet for my business.
BUT
and there’s a but
You still need to LEARN how to talk to people.
So as you go along you’ll learn and grow.
