How the Poor Think Differently to the Rich
So a few days ago I wrote a blog post about how rich people think.
And everything that I wrote about was taken from T. Harv Eker’s book – The Millionaire Mind.
It was interesting to hear some of the comments.
What does Rich and Poor really mean?
When I say Rich I don’t just mean money.
If you think about it if you want to be rich at anything can’t be “poor” at it.
There’s a distinct attitude between those that do great things in their life, whether it’s creating wealth
Starting a religious community
Or writing a book that changes the way the world thinks.
The reality is if you are going to achieve anything you have to think “rich”. You can’t think “poor”
So today I wanted to share what Eker describes as thinking like “the poor”.
Now in reading these you can probably see how we’re not only talking about money.
Poor people believe, “life happens to me”
Poor people play the money game to not lose
Poor people want to be rich
Poor people think small
Poor people focus on obstacles
Poor people resent rich and successful people
Poor people associate with negative or unsuccessful people
Poor people think negatively about selling and promotion. (there’s a good example of this in Rich Dad, Poor Dad)
Poor people are smaller than their problems
Poor people are poor receivers
Poor people choose to get paid based on time
Poor people think “either/or” (I personally don’t agree – this is the attitude of an Essentialist)
Poor people focus on their working income
Poor people mismanage their money well
Poor people work hard for their money
Poor people let fear stop them.
Poor people think they already know.
Now contrast this list with the list I shared a few days ago in my other post.
I am here to tell you that I have no amount of wealth, after walking the path of shifting my mindset to the way the Rich think
I see clearly how I was cheating myself.
I used to think poorly.
I used to be one of those that will sit down and gossip about rich people.
I would say things like they got their money doing drugs, or some other illegal activity.
The reality is rich people don’t care what you think about where they got their money from.
Most have worked it anyway.
Being an engineer I thought that sales and promotion were for people who couldn’t get a degree.
The funny thing in this world is that you only receive money if something is SOLD – let’s think about that for a minute.
And what about this wonderful trading time for money.
This is the biggest trap that most of us find ourselves in.
When we try to break loose of it we are sucked back in.
Before I left my job I did a little experiment.
I came into work late and left early – everyday – for a week.
I completed all my tasks and even did a little extra.
You know what happened the following Monday – I was called into the boss’ office to talk about my time.
Now I’m suppose to be a professional employee. It really shouldn’t matter WHEN I’m at work.
What should matter is that I AM doing my work.
Well apparently in the poor world of work – results don’t matter.
You see how this explanation can go on and on.
Being rich is 90% in your mind.
If you choose to Think like the rich then you’ll be rich.
If you choose to remain thinking like the poor; then you’ll remain poor.

Did this post make you feel uncomfortable?
Then that probably means you want to change something in your life.
